Instructional Method
Face-to-Face [CL] - A class in which 100% of the classroom contact hour (seat time) requirement is fulfilled through scheduled face-to-face class meetings at your campus center. Although many of Park’s instructors will ask students to use the University’s Learning Management System (LMS) in conjunction with their face-to-face classes, activity on the LMS does not replace or reduce the number of required contact hours spent in your campus center classroom.
Online [OL] - A class in which 100% of the classroom contact hour (seat time) requirement is fulfilled online via Park’s Learning Management System (LMS). In online classes, all instructional activities are facilitated by an instructor within the LMS course shell. While Park does not require students to participate in their online courses during scheduled days/times throughout the week, online courses do require weekly interaction and contain a schedule of required due dates for activities, assignments, and assessments.
Online Plus [OP] - A blended class that meets weekly via web conference (Zoom) at designated day/s and times. The remaining course requirements are completed on the student’s own time each week through the Learning Management System (Canvas). The time zone displayed is Central Time (based on the location of the Main campus in Parkville, Missouri); students in different time zones are responsible for ensuring that they are available for the weekly scheduled class meeting/s. *Formally Blended Web Conference [BZ] prior to 2022-2023 Academic Year.
Blended on Campus [BC] - A class that blends face-to-face and online instruction, with at least 50% of the classroom contact hour (seat time) requirement taking place in scheduled face-to-face meetings at your campus center, and the remaining requirements occurring through instructional activities and interactions completed online throughout the term via the Learning Management System.
Blended Multi-Site (Pirate Patch Host) [VB] - A blended class in which the face-to-face portion (at least 50% of the classroom contact hour (seat time) requirement) is facilitated in-person by an instructor at your campus center. During these face-to-face class meetings, students from remote campus centers will join you, participating synchronously via web conference. The remaining instructional activities occur through activities and interactions completed online throughout the term via the Learning Management System.
Blended Multi-Site (Pirate Patch Remote) [VL] - A blended class in which the face-to-face portion (at least 50% of the classroom contact hour (seat time) requirement) is facilitated by an instructor participating synchronously via web conference from another campus center. Via web conference from your campus center site, you will participate remotely in the face-to-face class meetings. The remaining instructional activities occur through activities and interactions completed online throughout the term via the Learning Management System.
Independent Study [IS] - A method for completion of those courses in the University catalog which do not require special equipment or instructional facilities and which are deemed suitable by the academic department to be taught one-on-one or in a small group format during a term/semester outside of when the class is regularly scheduled for offering. As such, independent study classes typically are not given a prescribed day/time on the course schedule. You work with your instructor to determine a plan for fulfilling contact hour (seat time) requirements through face-to-face and online instructional activities completed through the Learning Management System; this plan must be approved by your academic department prior to you enrolling in an Independent Study.
Blended Web Conference [BZ] – A blended class that meets weekly via web conference (Zoom) at designated day/s and times.

Physically Inaccessible Classrooms Park University takes seriously its commitment to removing educational barriers and providing accessible facilities to all students, employees, and visitors. Due to its historic campus, the University has a limited number of classrooms that are only accessible by staircase. These rooms include the following: Lower level of the Chapel, Alumni Hall 3rd floor, Herr House (except limited first floor access), and Dearing (except first floor). The University encourages all students to check schedules for classroom assignments as soon as possible to determine the location of their classrooms, and whether they have any concerns about the accessibility of the assigned classroom. Students who have accessibility concerns due to a documented physical or mobility-related disability should contact Disability Services [Dan Gerber, Director of Student Retention, 816-584-6378 or disabilityservices@park.edu]. The University encourages students to notify Disability Services as early as possible to allow the University the opportunity to provide appropriate accommodations prior to the start of classes.
